A message from the Director
Welcome to Bloom Garden Schools.
Bloom Garden was born from a simple conviction: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, participate and live a meaningful life, regardless of their level of need.
My journey in special needs education exposed me to many families searching for more than a school. They needed a place where education, therapy, life skills, family support and preparation for adulthood could come together. Bloom Garden was established in response to that need.
We began in 2022 with Bloom Garden Autism Academy, providing highly individualized education and support for learners with substantial and very substantial needs. As our learners grew, we recognized that their journey could not end with childhood education. This led to the establishment of Bloom Garden International School and, subsequently, Bloom Garden Vocational Training Center.
Today, these institutions form one connected pathway that takes a learner from early intervention and education through therapy and the development of life skills, into vocational training, employment and, ultimately, greater independence. This is the grand idea behind Bloom Garden Schools: to create a continuous and purposeful journey that prepares every learner not just for school, but for life.
Our philosophy is captured in our motto, “Let a Million Flowers Bloom.” Just as every flower requires a different environment to flourish, every learner has different strengths, needs, abilities and ways of learning. We therefore do not begin by asking what a child cannot do. We ask: Who is this child? How does this child learn? What does this child need? And what can we do to help this child become more independent?
We believe that special needs education must go beyond academic achievement. It must prepare a learner for life. That means developing communication, functional academics, social skills, emotional wellbeing, independence, vocational abilities and the confidence to participate meaningfully in society.
What makes Bloom Garden distinctive is our commitment to seeing the whole learner and the whole journey. Our teachers, therapists and other professionals work together, while families remain important partners in the process. We seek to ensure that support does not exist in isolation, but becomes part of a purposeful pathway towards greater independence.
Our ambition is to build a centre of excellence in special needs education, transition and inclusion in Kenya and beyond—a place where education, therapy, innovation, vocational preparation and family support come together.
We are not simply preparing children for school. We are preparing them for life.
